Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for questions to be raised about his future following a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 games, representing the club's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win of course but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my situation. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I perceive the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Problems and Player Response

The manager highlighted familiar shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a spell like this with results like these.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to the top, prove once more what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
