Esteemed actress Helen Mirren Set to Receive Globes' Lifetime Achievement Award.
The acclaimed UK star Helen Mirren, previously recipient of an Oscar statuette, several BAFTA honors, Globes trophies, five Emmys, and a Tony, will soon receive another major award to her trophy case: the DeMille Golden Globe lifetime honor.

The actress, 80, who was given a damehood back in 2003 and named a BAFTA fellow in the year 2014, will receive this honor at an event on 8 January, three days before the main Golden Globes take place, as part of an event billed by the organization as the “Golden Eve”.
This will also include the awarding of the Globes’ Carol Burnett award for television achievement, the recipient of which remains unannounced. The prior year’s honorees included Viola Davis and Ted Danson.
“Helen Mirren is a powerhouse performer, with a career is truly remarkable,” stated the organization’s president, president of the Golden Globes. “Her brilliant portrayals and devotion to her art constantly motivate numerous actors and viewers as well. It’s a tremendous privilege to bestow upon her this lifetime achievement honor.”
Career Highlights
Mirren rose to fame in the 1970s through significant parts in stage productions in London’s theater district and through the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as in movies including O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.
Back in the 90s, her prominent part in detective drama Prime Suspect broadened her fanbase significantly. Other key films comprise Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.
She received an Oscar for her portrayal as Queen Elizabeth II in the cinematic work The Queen, a part she returned to in 2013 in The Audience, the theatrical work from Peter Morgan regarding the encounters with the Queen and premier Thatcher, a role for which she received a Tony Award during 2015.
