Ex- British Broadcasting Corporation Consultants Participate in Parliamentary Inquiry Following Claims of Bias in Unauthorized Document
We start with queries from Tory Member of Parliament the committee chair, who oversees the panel.
She opens by offering context to the unauthorized memorandum written by Michael Prescott and published in the Telegraph.
"I do not desire the British Broadcasting Corporation tilting this way or that way, I just want it balanced, impartial and just," he says.
When asked whether he considers the British Broadcasting Corporation is systematically partial, the adviser answers: "No I don't. To be clear, tons of stuff the British Broadcasting Corporation produces is top-tier - both factual and entertainment shows."
However, he continues: "There exists real work that requires attention at the British Broadcasting Corporation."
Another former external BBC adviser examined by the committee, Caroline Daniel, remarks she takes the British Broadcasting Corporation very seriously and that it has a "continuous process and active debate" regarding dynamic and complex issues.
"Did the BBC prepared to engage in a proper discussion and debate and take action?" she asks herself. "From my perspective, affirmative, they were."
