Fans Demand Detainment of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of the actress are calling for that a individual who breached a barrier and touched the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or removed from Singapore.
A viral clip shows the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the actors proceeded down a event pathway flanked by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "free after being arrested", though legal records indicated that he was due to attend court on the following morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
History of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram account includes recordings of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney concert in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last year.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is obviously a punishable act," stated an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user wrote.
Followers Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Past Trauma
Numerous supporters accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" said one more response on Instagram.
Some attendees also criticised event staff at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while others called for digital services to remove Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Event Details
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande seemed startled when she was touched by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of fans had assembled in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore venue, including a number who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be launched on November 21, is the follow-up of a dual interpretation of the well-known stage show Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected bond between two distinct characters.
The show itself is a derivative of the 1900 story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of last year in the UK, and earned 10 Academy Award nods, securing several for best costume and artistic direction.
