Triple Most Valuable Player Jokic sustains a 'heartbreaking' knee injury.
Triple National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Jokic sustained a "devastating" injury to his knee when the Denver Nuggets were defeated 147-123 to the Miami Heat.
The star player injured himself towards the end of the second quarter in an unintentional collision with teammate Spencer Jones.
The other player landed on the footwear of the big man, and he promptly collapsed to the court holding his leg.
The star, who leads the NBA this season in rebounds and dimes, recorded a score of 21 points and eight assists in the game prior to suffering the injury.
He will have an MRI on Tuesday to assess the extent of the issue.
"Immediately, Jokic understood there was a problem," said Nuggets coach Adelman.
"Injuries are part of the game. Anyone who suffers an injury, it's difficult, especially somebody as talented as Jokic. We'll find out more on Tuesday."
"The team will adjust together. Of course, currently, I'm focused just about him as a person and the letdown of experiencing an event of that nature."
